Description

If you’re interested in visiting the schools that play in the Big East and Horizon League, you’ll want to make sure that your conference travel partner is affiliated with the same conference. This will help you save money on hotel rates and tickets. There are several benefits to this arrangement, but be sure to check with the school you plan to visit to find out more.

Lone Star Conference travel partner

The Lone Star Conference is a college athletic conference that is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association at the Division II level. It is comprised of colleges and universities located in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and British Columbia. The conference operates from the same headquarters complex as the American Southwest Conference.

Big East Conference travel partner

When it comes to travel partners, the Big East Conference has a few options. While no team in the Big East is particularly close to Providence or Creighton, both have relatively long travels. Whether they choose a game in Nebraska, Connecticut, or Providence, both teams will likely be playing in a different market.

If UConn were a Big East travel partner, the Huskies would have one game on their schedule in each of the first three seasons. If that’s not enough, they will have one year to sit out a Gavitt Games cycle, but will have multi-team events during the following seasons.

Another option is the Atlantic 10, which includes Davidson, Dayton, Virginia Commonwealth, St. Bonaventure, St. Louis, and St. Bonaventure. In addition, Loyola-Chicago just joined the Atlantic 10 this fall. And the MVC, which includes Missouri State and Northern Iowa, also has some Big East competition. Of course, they also have Temple, which is perennially awful in football.

Horizon League travel partner

For years, the Wright State Raiders were without a Horizon League conference travel partner. That’s about to change. The Raiders’ Board of Regents unanimously approved the move on Wednesday. Now, all 17 of their sports can compete against teams that are closer to their home region. As part of the move, NKU will play its home games against Horizon League members and travel with Wright State.

Another potential Horizon League conference travel partner would be Bellarmine. While the school is not known for football, it hasn’t played in the ASun long enough to become essential to the league’s massive expansion plan. If the Horizon League offers a better geographic fit, Bellarmine might consider moving. This would also give Murray State a travel partner.

The Horizon League’s schools are located in the Midwest. For example, Robert Morris is near Cleveland State, Youngstown State, Wright State, and Northern Kentucky. This would allow it to be close to its fellow Midwestern schools while still playing in the conference’s 20-game slate.
